Newlyweds jailed after brawl at Pittsburgh-area hotel

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A newlywed couple spent the night in separate jail cells - she in her wedding gown - after police said they brawled with each other, then members of another wedding party, at a suburban Pittsburgh hotel.

The fight started Saturday night after a reception when he knocked her to the floor with a karate kick in the seventh-floor hallway of a Holiday Inn - and escalated when she attacked two guests from another wedding party who came to her aid, police said.

The melee moved to an elevator and then to the lobby, where the couple threw metal planters at the two good Samaritans, causing minor injuries, police charged.

“It was pretty wild,” Ross police Sgt. Dave Syska said.

Dentist David W. Wielechowski, 32, of Shaler, and Christa Vattimo, 25, had married a month earlier in the Bahamas but repeated their vows Saturday at a reception for 150 guests. They were checking into their room when the argument began, police said.

Police arrived to find the dentist lying on the lobby floor and his bride, seemingly highly intoxicated, screaming.

Authorities charged each with simple assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, and the bride with an additional count of public intoxication. They face a May 7 preliminary hearing.

A district judge considered issuing a restraining order against Wielechowski, but his new bride declined the measure.

The couple declined comment upon their release Sunday morning.

She left with her father, still dressed in her white gown.

Wielechowski left alone, sporting a swollen eye, tuxedo pants, a bloody T-shirt and one shoe.

Thank You Very Little

Many people have Heath Savings Accounts or HSAs. They’re a very effective way to afford health insurance and, are a staple of small business health plans. If you’re unfamiliar with HSAs, you can see a nice summary here.

As is their wont, the Dims want to end this. Why? They want you to have health insurance only if you buy it from the government. The Wall Street Journal covers it today.

“Democrats have made affordable health care a mainstay of their election agenda, but apparently only if you’re willing to get insurance through the government. Witness their stealthy assault on Americans who prefer the private-sector option of Health Savings Accounts.

This week, the House passed legislation that included a provision to require every HSA transaction be reviewed and verified as a legitimate medical expense. Democrats say this is to ensure that consumers are using their tax-free withdrawals for a knee replacement, rather than a new iPod. In reality it adds a layer of bureaucracy that could sharply reduce the appeal and cost savings of HSAs.

A key player here is Ways and Means Health Subcommittee Chairman Pete Stark, whose main purpose in politics is to give the U.S. a government-run health-care system. He is a known opponent of HSAs – once comparing them to “weapons of mass destruction” – because they introduce more individual choice into the health-care marketplace.”[...]

Honest to God, how do people this stupid keep getting elected? What’s worse, this idiot thinks the Feds are more capable than individual consumers in finding health care that’s best for them.

The WSJ concludes its op-ed with some very good advice.

“Democrats, including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, decry the high and rising costs of health care, including insurance “overhead.” Mr. Stark and his friends want to impose the same bureaucratic overhead even on spending that consumers do with their own money. The Senate should stop this one dead in its tracks.”

I hope the Senate will stop this one, too but I’m not overly optimistic. The end of HSAs would all but end health care for small businesses. Of course, the goal of the majority party in the Senate is to wipe out all business…corporations, no matter their size, represent pure evil in the eyes of the Dims.

Ed Koch on Jimmy Carter

Ed Koch, the former mayor of New York City has a little piece in Real Clear Politics in which he talks about former presidents. Here’s his take on Jimmy Carter, the buttboy for terrorists.

Ford lost to Jimmy Carter. I came to know Carter well.

When he ran for reelection, he asked me to campaign for him in 1980 - I was by then Mayor of New York City — and I said that I would vote for him, but not campaign for him because he was then engaging in hostile acts towards Israel. I was popular with the Jewish community and when I would not campaign for him unless he changed his position, he called me to his hotel in New York when attending a fundraiser and said, “You have done me more damage than any man in America.” I felt proud then, and even more today, since we now know what a miserable president he was then and the miserable human being he is now as he prepares to meet with Hamas.

I fully agree with Ed Koch when it comes to Jimmy Carter, the buttboy for terrorists.

China Not Doing Itself any Favors

China stepped up its pressure on Tibetan protesters on Friday, releasing photos of wanted suspects who were captured on film in the worst rioting against Chinese rule in Tibet in nearly 20 years.

Naturally, Nancy Pelosi, the most inept Speaker of the House in the history of that august institution demanded an international investigation.

As bad as the situation in Tibet is, it’s not Pelosi’s place to demand anything. Why is she spending our tax dollars traveling to Tibet, anyway?

Eliot Spitzer, the Dem Governor of New York and the self annointed “sheriff of Wall Street” has been caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet with high a high priced hooker.

Looks like he was a regular customer, too.

Naturally, since he’s a Dem, people start making all kinds of excuses for him…for example, check out this statement from political Joseph Mercurio.

A political consultant, Joseph Mercurio, said he doesn’t think Mr. Spitzer needs to resign.

“I would have never expected this from Eliot Spitzer, but even at that, I think it is a private matter that should be decided by him and his wife. He should consult with his rabbi, beyond that we should wait to see the dust settle, see what actually happened,” he said.

“We don’t change governors lightly. I don’t think he should step down. I think it’s a private matter and it depends a lot on how his wife reacts to it.”

I wonder if Mr. Mercurio would say the same thing if Spitzer was a Republican. Well, no I don’t wonder, I know what the answer is.

It couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. /sarcasm.

I Am Not Surprised

Fred, over at Real Debate Wisconsin has an excellent post about the lies the GWC is telling about Supreme Court candidate, Judge Michael Gableman.

GWC is just a joke, not to mention a bunch of scam artists.

Like many in the Cheddarsphere, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet with Judge Gableman and plan on voting for him on April 1st. I hope you vote for him, too.

What’s really sad is that the bubbleheads in the MSM haven’t picked up on this. Not that we expected them to do so.

Nancy Pelosi Lives Up To Dems Platform

I’ve often stated the only true platform of the Democratic Party consists of two points:

1) We have everything it takes to take everything you have; and,
2) Is what we’re doing good for America and Americans? We don’t care!!

Point #1 really needs no further proof (although the proof never stops coming).

Point #2 is again proved today by the most ineffective Speaker of the House in the history of that institution.

Sheboygan Mayor Capitulates

The Big Pendejo of Sheboygan aka Mayor Perez has seen his his little stunt blow up in his face.

Now here’s what’s really disgusting.

Perez said in an interview Friday that the city was concerned over Reisinger’s link because “people associate (Reisinger) with racism” due to an image posted on her site digitally altered to show Perez holding a Mexican flag with the caption “Power to Illegals?” Bucher said he has been told Reisinger did not post the picture, which was removed soon after being posted.

Well, Mr. Mayor, it is the people of Sheboygan should be concerned inasmuch as YOU may be the biggest moron ever elected to office.

You really have to wonder why the good people of Sheboygan ever voted this clown into office. Same with this guy. Hey, McLean….nice web page! No name, no bio, no nothing! Does this guy even have a law degree?
