Good News, Bad News

First the bad news. The Brew Crew tonight. Ugh. Now the good news.

The cool little girl’s (CLG) mother called tonight, right around the time Prince got drilled in the leg to say that the cool little girl had her surgery yesterday and came through with flying colors. I don’t like to get involved in the outcome but I was very happy to hear it. She’ll be cleared to go home sometime late next week so that’s very good news indeed. I talked to the attending MD and told him to make sure her stitches will be strong enough to fly back. If it gets bumpy, it could be bad news…the long term outlook is for some wind so I just want to make sure.

The doc told me she will be fine but I may actually go see the doc before I take CLG home. The last thing I need is for the stitches to open up at 8000ft. When I talked to the CLG, she told me she felt GREAT so I guess there’s more important things than a ball game. I gotta get some little plastic wings to give her for the return flight.

BP tells me I should get them engraved with “I survived a Med Flight with the Asian Badger”.

I reminded BP I have a key to his hanger AND a key to his very fine Meridian. He went to get the next round by way of apology.

Like I always say, nothing like a little celebration with a lot of Dewars. A great day with some very welcome news.

A British man claiming to be 101 years old finished last week’s London Marathon in a respectable 12 hours, stopping halfway to smoke a cigarette and drink a pint of beer. Buster Martin, who may actually be 94, was trying to set a world’s record for oldest marathoner. He said that whatever his real age, his unusual choice of mid-race sustenance proved a point. “They say [cigarettes] and booze are bad for you, but I’m still here, aren’t I?”

A great way to run a marathon (if you like running 26 miles, that is).
